South Africa’s men claimed their second title of this season’s SVNS series after a tense victory over arch-rivals Fiji in the Perth final. South Africa backed up their win in Cape Town in December with a 21-19 win over the islanders and the performance was especially satisfying after having lost 20-14 in the pool stage on Saturday. The South Africans had reached the final after beating hosts Australia 28-12 in the semi-final. Philip Snyman’s men scored four tries to win 28-12 after leading 14-5 at half-time. In the final, South Africa struck first after capitalising on an early Fijian error.…
Vitaly Janelt (Brentford): He obviously gets a goal – wonderful header – but I actually thought he was just the best player on the pitch in the 3-2 win at Newcastle. I agree with Jordan Henderson in the sense he should have had the man of the match but he played well, kept it simple, broke up the game, broke forward when he needed to. A real solid midfielder’s performance.Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): What a difference a manager makes – being able to be free, get on the ball, go wherever he wants and be creative. I think Michael Carrick…
The nightlife business is as lucrative as any corporate business you can think of. The slight difference is that while corporate workers sort through many files, write emails, and work through sometimes boring hours, nightlifers party and have a good time. But as nightlifers party and corporate workers grunt about their monthly pay, everyone aims for the same thing: how to get people to buy their products. Over the years, the idea of nightlife has evolved from just clubs to curated events, but the soul or the essence of nightlife has never changed. Everyone wants to have a good time.…
Former Ireland players claim Leinster and Ireland’s attacks have regressed since defence guru Jacques Nienaber’s arrival at Leinster. Callan Lötter and Matthew Caldwell were crowned champions of the aQuellé Midmar Mile for the first time after two very different races on Sunday. While Lötter took the direct route, dominating the elite women’s race, Caldwell’s strategy to swim a wide line out to the right of the rest of the field in the men’s race raised some questions but ultimately paid off. The Johannesburg swimmer had boldly predicted that the top three in this year’s men’s race would be himself, fellow South African Henré Louw and visiting Frenchman and three-time Olympian Damien Joly. And the trio did indeed take…
As fresh commuters crowded into the train, I looked up from the back where we sat and saw her. Already seated. She took up the entire row meant for three and stretched out, lounging with her feet on the chairs. The fact that it was a station and passengers were coming in didn’t faze her. As she leaned forward, chirping to her friends across the aisle, she thought in her world, anyone who couldn’t find a seat should either stand or hang. I stared at her and cringed. Dear God, how do humans put on their shoes in a shared…

Ready to settle into something new? There’s fresh music in town, and SND LAB and Star Baba Jay are behind it. Their new single, “For Your Love,” leans into an easy, mid-tempo sound that sits between contemporary Afrobeats and R&B. From the first few seconds, the track keeps things measured, with SND LAB setting the pace through a steady rhythm and layered instrumentation that unfolds gently as the song progresses. Star Baba Jay carries the song with a vocal delivery that feels close and intentional. He sings about devotion and emotional openness, taking his time with the lyrics and letting…
