Photo Credit: Adesua Etomi-Wellington/Instagram Adesua Etomi–Wellington has us looking not once, not twice, not even thrice, and we can’t help it. The moment she arrived at “The Herd” premiere, the red carpet shifted — her champagne gown was all the reminder we needed that style can be both soft and striking. The floor-length dress featured a halter neckline with a sweetheart cut, each curve traced with delicate beadwork that shimmered under the lights. From the hip down, layers of fringe swayed as she moved, giving the gown rhythm and life. For a pop of colour, Adesua carried a red beaded…
The South African women’s hockey team made the perfect start to their 2025 African Hockey Cup of Nations campaign, sweeping past hosts Egypt with a commanding 10-nil victory in Ismailia, Egypt, on 12 October 2025. It was a memorable day for Caylin Maree, Jeanri Thomas, and Ané Janse van Vuuren, who all earned their first senior international caps in the green and gold. South Africa wasted no time asserting their authority, taking the lead inside the opening three minutes when Onthatile Zulu finished emphatically on the reverse after a sharp move from Taheera Augousti. Moments before the end of the…
Photo Credit: UNPeacemaking/X It’s a proud moment for Nigeria as Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Olukemi Ibikunle has been recognised on the global stage with the 2025 United Nations Trailblazer Award for Women Justice and Corrections Officers. The award celebrates women who are driving reform and promoting dignity in justice and correctional systems around the world — and Olukemi’s name now stands among them. Presented by Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, the award ceremony took place at the UN Headquarters in New York. Olukemi was recognised for her exceptional work with the United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in…
Grant de Jager hopes to make enough of an impression with the Blitzboks to play in Cape Town in December. The Springbok Sevens are in full swing in their training schedule with 2026 world series looming large, with their defence of their SVNS Cape Town crown. The 21-year-old De Jager, who hails from Barberton in Mpumalanga, signed on the dotted line in September and after a month in his new job, is living his dream. The fleet-footed outside back, who represented Western Province at U19 and U21 levels, studies towards a B.SC degree at Stellenbosch University and was one of…
Photo Credit: Mercy Aigbe/Instagram This Monday, Mercy Aigbe is giving us all the style inspiration we need to look fly in the office. The actress stepped out in a pristine ivory coat dress that says I came to work, but I might just own the company too. The dress is a masterclass in tailoring. It is clean, structured, and beautifully put together. It features a dramatic, sculptural collar that frames her face like something straight out of a runway dream. Gold lion head buttons run down the front, adding just the right dose of luxury. The silhouette stays sleek with…
The winners of the 2025 South African K2 titles at the Fish River Canoe Marathon over the weekend took vastly different routes to claim victory, with women’s winners Hilary Bruss and Bridgitte Hartley cruising home by almost 20 minutes, while Andy Birkett’s and Hamish Lovemore’s win was in doubt until just before the finish. Bruss and Hartley were in a class of their own in the women’s race, and despite some unusual errors, the victory was never really in doubt. However, Lovemore and Birkett had to overcome a stern test of tactics, speed and fitness from Greg Louw and Matthew…
Bafana Bafana will host Rwanda in a must-win World Cup qualifier on Tuesday at the Mbombela Stadium. Having led Group C for most of the qualifying campaign, South Africa were docked points by FIFA after fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho earlier this year. After FIFA made a ruling, Bafana’s 3-0 win over Lesotho was overturned, which then saw them go level on points with Benin before the last round of qualifiers. A goalless draw with Zimbabwe on Friday means Bafana must win their final qualifier against Rwanda and hope Benin draws or loses to Nigeria. Hugo Broos’ men have…
