Sharks coach John Plumtree has named a 65-man squad for the 2025-26 Vodacom URC, but will be without nine players – excluding their Springboks – when the tournament kicks off next week. With a demanding season ahead – combining the URC, Champions Cup and Springbok Test commitments – depth will be crucial to sustaining the Sharks’ ambitions over the next nine months. The Currie Cup provided a valuable platform to develop young players, while the success of the Junior Boks at the World Rugby U20 Championship further bolstered the talent pool. The likes of Junior Boks Vusi Moyo (flyhalf), Matt…

Photo Credit: Akin Faminu/Instagram Who says men can’t have fun with colours? Akin Faminu just proved, once again, that bold shades aren’t only stylish on women. Against a striking red backdrop, Akin paired an olive-green shirt with a mustard-chartreuse textured jacket, styled with a bold red floral brooch. He finished the look with wide-leg vintage denim and black leather shoes, nodding to a cool retro ’70s vibe. One moment he’s serving us sharp with a wide-brimmed hat, the next he’s switching things up with dark sunglasses for a laid-back feel. And of course, the close-up portrait lets us really appreciate…

Coach Johan Ackermann says the Vodacom Bulls won’t be able to field their strongest team in their URC opener against the Ospreys at Loftus next Saturday. Ackermann admitted that the side which takes the field in Pretoria will look very different to the one that lost the Vodacom URC final to Leinster in June, with a host of Springboks unavailable and several key players sidelined by injury. “I think there may be a perception that the team that played in the URC final will also play against the Ospreys, but that is not going to be the case at all,”…
