A criminal indictment was filed Monday against a Georgia attorney who represented a defendant in a RICO case involving the Young Slime Life gang and Atlanta rapper Young Thug.

Lawyer Nicole Fegan, 34, of Georgia is charged in Fulton County, Georgia, with helping smuggle drugs to a client and advising another to dump his cellphone to obstruct an investigation into a fatal shooting, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

WSB-TV and Fox 5 Atlanta also have coverage.

Fegan was accused of helping smuggle methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana to her client in the YSL case, Tenquarius Mender. He is also charged in the new indictment, along with one of his associates.

The charges against Fegan include trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The indictment includes earlier allegations related to Fegan’s arrest in February 2024, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She was accused at that time of contacting a suspect in the fatal shooting case and telling him that he had warrants for his arrest. She was charged then with criminal street gang activity and criminal solicitation to commit the offense of tampering with evidence, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

According to WSB-TV, Fegan “is well-known in local legal circles for her effective representation of alleged gang members.”

Mender previously pleaded guilty to possession of a cellphone and a weapon while in custody. He also entered an Alford plea agreeing not to contest a charge of participating in criminal street gang activity, according to prior Fox 5 Atlanta coverage. The plea resolved charges in the RICO case.

Young Thug, who was not represented by Fegan, pleaded guilty and no contest to several gang, gun and drug charges in the RICO case, NPR reported Nov. 1.

Fegan’s lawyer released a statement to WSB-TV and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“This indictment is a travesty,” the statement said. “Nicole Fegan is a fierce trial attorney and well-respected amongst her peers. These charges stem from activities alleged to have occurred two and a half years ago during the YSL trial for which Ms. Fegan was a zealous advocate for her client, no more. We look forward to fighting these false allegations.”

Fegan remains in good standing with the state bar, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
