Following its successful launch to market on 2 September, Discover Sport™ is proud to announce a dynamic new 3-year partnership with Tennis South Africa (TSA) that will bring South Africa’s premier tennis competitions fully into the spotlight. Through this collaboration, Discover Sport™ becomes the official streaming partner of TSA, enabling fans nationwide and abroad to connect with South Africa’s top players and competitions across digital and broadcast platforms.

At its heart, this partnership is about access, visibility, and impact. Discover Sport’s™ purpose is to give voice to underrepresented sporting disciplines and provide new opportunities for athletes, federations, and fans to grow and connect. In teaming up with TSA, Discover Sport™ ensures that South African tennis regains the consistent coverage it deserves, with a full calendar of tournaments and events being live-streamed and shared with mainstream broadcasters for maximum reach.

Launched in pilot phase early 2025, Discover Sport™ has quickly grown into a trusted partner for sports bodies looking to expand their reach. By providing the tools, resources and platform to originate live coverage, Discover Sport™ empowers federations to showcase their athletes and inspire the next generation of fans.

Stephen Watson, Founder of Discover Sport™, says: “Our role has always been clear: we are here to enable. Tennis South Africa has incredible athletes and competitions, and our purpose is to give them the stage to connect more fans with the game, and to use technology to make tennis more visible than ever before. We believe sport has the power to unite and inspire. This partnership is a step towards creating a more inclusive sporting landscape in South Africa and beyond,” says Watson.

For TSA, this partnership represents a vital moment in the growth of the sport. Beyond its elite competitions, the coverage will profile athletes, tell their stories and build a stronger, more sustainable following for tennis across all communities.

Anthony Moruthane, General Manager of TSA, says: “This partnership with Discover Sport™ marks a new era for South African tennis. It’s not just about broadcasting matches, it’s about telling our players’ stories, inspiring communities, and building a legacy of visibility and opportunity for generations to come. Tennis has incredible potential in South Africa, and we are already on an exciting upward trajectory. But for the sport to truly flourish, we must reach as many South Africans as possible. This partnership provides us with a powerful platform to do just that.”

“We love Discover Sport’s™ vision and look forward to working with their team to grow the sport of tennis across the country,” says Moruthane.

    What can the fans expect?

As part of the partnership, TSA and Discover Sport™ will ultimately co-create a Monthly Magazine Show. A bite-size production that recaps highlights whilst featuring player profiles as well as providing exclusive behind-the-scenes content. “This initiative will serve as a cornerstone of tennis storytelling in South Africa, bringing fans closer to the players and competitions they love. All the while, it allows us at Discover Sport™ to stay true to our mission of social impact,” says Watson.

In addition, Discover Sport™ will stream and support production across TSA’s premier competitions, including:

    • ITF World Tennis Tour Events
    • Davis Cup (World Cup of Tennis)
    • Junior National Championships and Junior Masters
    • Rising Star Tennis National School Championships
    • National Club Championships

The upcoming Davis Cup tie between South Africa and Morocco (13 and 14 September) will serve as a flagship moment for the partnership. The premier international team event, known as the World Cup of Tennis, will be streamed live on Discover Sport™, shared with mainstream broadcasters and distributed to the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Fans will be able to follow every serve, rally and decisive point as the national team competes on home soil.

Beyond the tennis court, this partnership underscores Discover Sport’s™ mission to create new pathways for visibility and sustainability in sport. Discover Sport™ amplifies its purpose in reaching athletes and federations, whilst ensuring that commercial opportunities flow back to those at the heart of the game.

Welcomed as a new kid on the block with radical-impact potential, Discover Sport™ is hailed as the ‘app that gives back’ and is an all-inclusive sports social media platform. Through its user-friendly interface and high-converting search and functionality, fans can follow their favourites and athletes can in return be engaged, motivated, scouted and backed by fans and sponsors. A platform where everyone wins, Discover Sport™ is steadily enhancing professional and personal sporting connections with revolutionary advancement in the free-to-play digital arena – and its TSA alliance is no exception.

“It’s an exciting partnership for us and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds. On behalf of the entire Discover Sport™ team, we wish the tennis players, their families and sponsors all the very best for the tournaments that lie ahead,” says Watson.

For full coverage of the Davis Cup and the broader tennis calendar, tennis fans are invited to join Discover Sport™ at  www.discoversport.com to watch South Africa take on Morocco in the Davis Cup, and to stay up to date with all the latest tennis action.
