Andrew Trimble says the Springboks are “head and shoulders above” the rest of world rugby.

Speaking on the Rugby Rivals podcast with John Kirwan and Victor Matfield, the former Ireland wing said the Boks’ performance against France in Paris showed why they’re ranked No 1.

“I think the rest of the world is looking on just dreading the opportunity to play South Africa,” he said.

“Up until the weekend, I thought it was South Africa and France who led the way, and then the rest of us. It’s South Africa head and shoulders above, and then it’s France, the rest of us are a long way back.”

    MATFIELD: Boks were unbelievable

The world champions, who retained their Rugby Championship title earlier this year, overcame a first-half red card to Lood de Jager before storming home with three late tries to beat Les Bleus 32-17 at the Stade de France.

“South Africa are just incredible, that was a statement performance, it was unbelievable,” said Trimble.
