A former Orlando Pirates defender looks set to receive a new lease of life in the Betway Premiership.

After going months unemployed, Wayde Jooste is attracting interest from a top-flight side.

Jooste was released by AmaZulu at the end of last season. The 34-year-old wing-back made 48 appearances for Usuthu in two seasons at the club. He was unfortunately deemed surplus to requirements and offloaded in June.

Former Orlando Pirates man set to join Siwelele FC

Former Orlando Pirates speedster Wayde Jooste looks set to complete a move to Siwelele FC.

Many will remember, the wing-back actually made a name for himself out in the Free State at Bloemfontein Celtic over a decade ago.

In 2013, the former Orlando Pirates and Golden star earned promotion for the Celtic academy to the first team.

He spent three years at Celtic before joining Golden Arrows in 2016. He later joined Highlands Park before moving to the mighty Orlando Pirates.

After his spell at the Buccaneers, he moved to Kwa-Zulu Natal enjoying spells at both Maritzburg United and AmaZulu FC.

“Experienced defender Wayde Jooste is in line for a move to Siwelele FC,” a Citizen report read.

“Sources close to the player have confirmed that a few sides have expressed interest, with Siwelele emerging as the most recent suitors. Jooste’s experience and versatility would provide head coach Lehlohonolo Seema with valuable depth at right-back. Particularly following the injury to Nyiko Mobbie that has left the club short in defence.”

    Jooste’s numbers in the PSL

Wayde Jooste has made over 200 appearances in the top-flight. 39 of those came for Orlando Pirates.

He also scored eight goals while assisting 10 more over the years. He’ll undoubtedly add some stability to Siwelele’s defence.
