The Tiruchi international airport has further enhanced its passenger handling infrastructure by commissioning four additional Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) at the new integrated terminal building.
The four Passenger Boarding Bridges at Bays 13, 15, 17, and 19 have been completed at a cost of ₹11.90 crore. The PBBs were commissioned and inaugurated by Airport Director G. Gopalakrishnan on Wednesday and brought into operational use.
The commissioning of the additional PBBs will significantly improve passenger convenience and operational efficiency by providing seamless and direct boarding from the terminal building to the aircraft. It would enhance accessibility and comfort for senior citizens, passengers with reduced mobility and wheelchair users and protect passengers from adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat and rain during boarding and disembarkation.
Further, it reduces boarding and deboarding time thereby improving the overall travel experience besides strengthening the airport’s capability to handle increasing passenger traffic with enhanced operational efficiency. The New Integrated Terminal Building has been designed with provisions for 10 PBBs and 11 aircraft parking stands.
During phase-I, five PBBs at Bays 11,12,14,16 and 18 were installed and are operational.
The Airports Authority of India remains committed to continuously upgrading passenger facilities and providing a safe, comfortable, and <a href="https://absafricatv.com/stubhub-launches-world-cup-cuts-barbershop-pop/” title=”StubHub Launches ‘World Cup Cuts’ Barbershop Pop”>world-class travel experience at the Tiruchi international airport, a press release said.
