The sprint towards the business end of the Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series intensifies this Sunday as South Africa’s premier domestic T20 competition resumes. With the log standings revealing a chasm between the frontrunners and the chasing pack, this weekend’s double-header at Newlands and SuperSport Park offers a critical opportunity for contenders to secure their footing on the road to the final.
World Sports Betting Western Province currently sets the pace at the summit of the standings, remaining the team to beat with 23 points from five matches. Their unblemished record has given them a narrow net run rate lead over second-placed DP World Lions – also on 23 points but from six matches, and a massive 10-point cushion over the third-placed Hollywoodbets Dolphins, on 13 points for three wins from their six fixtures.
In their most recent outing, Province’s commanding eight-wicket victory over DP World Lions served notice to the rest of the league, their confidence secure in the knowledge that they play with a game in hand.
By contrast, the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers admirably broke their duck in a tough season where wins have been hard to come by; their narrow 8-run victory at home against the Titans was a display of grit. The Badgers have re-established for themselves that they can compete in high-pressure finishes, and that is a confidence that they will need to carry into Sunday if they hope to secure a meaningful conclusion to this season.

Newlands plays host to a fascinating tactical battle as WSB Western Province look to build on their demolition of the Lions. For the Garden Route Badgers, the 10 am start at Newlands Sunday is a slim shot at redemption. Currently sitting in fifth place on four points, the Badgers have struggled to convert promising starts into victories, and they face a Province side that is notoriously difficult to beat at home.
If the Badgers can find a way to unsettle the Province top order early, they could throw a spanner in the works of the title race; otherwise, Province look certain to continue setting the pace at the top of the log.

In Centurion, the Fidelity Titans will welcome to SuperSport Park a North West Dragons side buoyed by a recent first win of the season, for their 11 am start on Sunday. The Titans find themselves at the bottom of the log with a consolation two points with no wins, and their talent-laden ranks will be desperate for a turnaround in form.
A win for the Titans will allow them to resume the season in better spirits than 2025 allowed, but considering their current standings, a shot at the playoff spots is an unlikely prospect.
The North West Dragons will look to exploit the home team’s nerves to record a second victory in what would signal a genuine late-season resurgence, their 2025-concluding home loss to the Lions notwithstanding.
