After a smash hit launch in Dubai, it looks like Primark is headed to Abu Dhabi.
While Thursday, May 21 may have marked the launch of Primark’s third Dubai store – this time in Mall of the Emirates – it would appear that continued UAE expansion is already in motion. Speaking to Gulf News, John Hadden, chief executive of Primark’s regional parent company Alshaya Group, said that an opening in Abu Dhabi is expected to be “certainly within the next 12 months.”
Hadden confirmed that while no location had yet been selected, the group was already in talks to take Primark to Abu Dhabi. “We’re looking at locations at the moment, because it needs a big space and big space is difficult to find,” he said, per Gulf News.
The rapid expansion is a reaction to the huge response Primark has seen since opening in Dubai in March. In an earlier interview with Dubai Eye, Hadden said that to date, Primark’s Dubai stores have welcomed over 1 million customers, selling 4 million items. As such, the group plans to move faster than originally planned with their regional rollout, meaning we could see even more Primark stores popping up across the emirates.
For now, you can get your Primark fix in Dubai at Dubai Mall, City Centre Mirdif and – as of Thursday May 21, Mall of the Emirates.
