Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Khanyisa Mayo, just around 72 hours after his shock exit from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad.

The 27-year-old was left out of CR Belouizdad’s squad list for the season and was not seen training with the first team amid whispers of a move away from Algiers.

The Umtata-born player famously confirmed on national radio in August 2024 that Kaizer Chiefs attempted to sign him 24 hours after he had already sealed a move to North Africa.

    SHOCK EXIT FROM CR BELOUIZDAD

As reported this week, CRB’s head coach, Sead Ramovic, confirmed to the media that he had decided to release the former SuperSport United, Richards Bay FC and Cape Town City forward.

“It was not an easy call. I have the utmost respect for him, but football is about timing and roles,” The Serb told iDiski Times’ Lorenz Kohler. “I believe a new challenge is best for him now,” Ramovic added.

In the meantime, it remains to be seen where the left-footed striker/winger will be moving to.

    KAIZER CHIEFS ANNOUNCE KHANYISA MAYO

“Amakhosi Family, our new signing has a message for you,” the Glamour Boys announced via social media. ” We are looking forward to welcoming him home soon.

“We just couldn’t wait to let you know that Khanyisa Mayo is Khosified!!! Welcome, Khosi. We look forward to revealing that special jersey number…look out for the reveal coming soon,” Kaizer Chiefs added.
