The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has launched A Journey Through the Wild Heart of East Africa, a multimedia campaign.

Produced with BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, the initiative promotes Kenya as a leading adventure tourism destination through the perspective of Nairobi-based photographer and adventurer Jack Swynnerton.

The multimedia series spans three chapters—Land, Water, and Air—each highlighting a distinct aspect of Kenya’s iconic African landscapes and wildlife.

In the Land segment, Swynnerton explores the Maasai Mara, capturing images of lions and interacting with the Samburu community to showcase their hospitality and cultural heritage.

The Air chapter features a hot air balloon safari over the Mara at dawn, a visit to a remote elephant sanctuary, and a hike up Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak.

The Water segment takes Swynnerton to Watamu on the Swahili coast, where he paddleboards through mangrove forests, kitesurfs in the Indian Ocean, and sails on a traditional dhow boat.

“A Journey Through the Wild Heart of East Africa highlights the immense potential of adventure tourism and reinforces our commitment to offering visitors a dynamic and unforgettable travel experience,” says June Chepkemei, KTB CEO.

“From spotting elephants on safari to marvelling at mountain views, we’ve showcased some amazing experiences which will offer audiences around the world a taste of just what an adventure in Kenya can offer,”adds Jihane Rassasse, VP of Content Partnerships for MEA, Turkey and the Mediterranean BBC Studios.
