Media personality and reality TV star Kim Kardashian has finished a legal apprenticeship program that offers an alternate path to becoming a lawyer in California.

Kardashian’s accomplishment took six years to complete, two years more than required under the Law Office Study Program, report the Los Angeles Times, Law.com, Above the Law and the Independent.

“It wasn’t easy, and it took longer than planned, but I never gave up,” Kardashian wrote on Instagram. “The journey was real, and so is the accomplishment.”

California is one of the few states that allow lawyers to become lawyers by “reading the law.” Kardashian participated in the apprenticeship program even though she did not graduate from college.

Kardashian studied with a criminal justice reform group, but it wasn’t her first exposure to the law. She told Vogue in 2019 that she used to snoop through evidence books on the weekends used by her lawyer father, the late Robert Kardashian. He is best known for successfully defending football player, actor and media personality O.J. Simpson on murder charges in the 1990s.

Kardashian passed the difficult “baby bar” exam on her fourth try in December 2021. The first-year test is required for students in apprenticeship programs and law schools that are not accredited by the ABA. In March, she passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, a requirement for taking the bar.

Whether or not Kardashian becomes a lawyer, she will be playing one on TV. She will appear in a Hulu show about a team of female attorneys called All’s Fair.
