The Deputy President urged Kenyans to reject divisive politics, keep the Mount Kenya region united and preserve the church’s independence from political influence.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to safeguard national unity, warning that political differences should not be allowed to undermine long-standing communal relationships.
Speaking during the ACK Diocese of Embu’s 36th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service at Kigari Teachers Training College on Sunday, Kindiki called on residents of the Mount Kenya region to reject divisive rhetoric and remain united.
“As Kenyans, we have no other home; this is the only home we have. We must protect it and ensure it remains safe,” Kindiki emphasised.

He urged leaders and citizens to handle disagreements with restraint, saying political differences should not destroy relationships built over generations.
“Whenever we have disagreements, we should remain moderate because there is always tomorrow. We should not destroy relationships that have been built over centuries because of temporary disagreements.”
The Deputy President also presented himself as a stabilising force committed to keeping the Mount Kenya region united.

“There are people speaking as though the world is coming to an end. There is no problem. We are here, and we are not going anywhere,” Kindiki stated firmly.
“Those who think they will bring confusion to Mt. Kenya by making people speak in different voices and dividing them should relax.”
Kindiki further assured the congregation that the Kenya Kwanza administration had resolved to keep politics out of the church, pledging to respect the independence of religious institutions. He said the government remained open to constructive criticism and guidance from religious leaders.
“Whatever you want us to improve or correct in leadership, we will do so. We will listen because we are human beings, and government is a human institution that can always be improved through your guidance and input,” he said.
He also praised the Anglican Church for its significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare and education, saying spiritual leadership should go hand in hand with socio-economic empowerment to improve the lives of citizens.
Expressing confidence in the administration’s political future, Kindiki compared the current political landscape to previous challenges the leadership had overcome.
“If we won when President Uhuru Kenyatta was in The Hague with President William Ruto, then next year is a small matter. Pray only for good health and God’s favour,” he said.
