    The Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund (LPFF) national Imbizo’s campaign will continue in 2026. In 2025, the LPFF, in collaboration with the Legal Practice Council (LPC) and the Legal Practitioners Indemnity Insurance Fund NPC (LPIIF), held a series of national Imbizos across the country. The campaign aimed to ensure that South Africans understood how to report dishonest legal practitioners and how to claim compensation when their money or property had been stolen or misused. The LPFF said that while traveling across the country to host these informative sessions, a clear message emerged. The Fund added that the sessions often developed into honest and emotional conversations, with attendees sharing  real experiences involving inheritance disputes and property transfers that had gone wrong.

    LPFF Chief Executive Officer, Motlatsi Molefe, speaking at the Imbizos stressed the importance of the campaign and emphasised the commitment of the Fund to South Africans. ‘Our commitment goes beyond compliance. We engage directly with communities because people deserve to understand their rights, and they deserve institutions that show up for them. When someone has been let down by a legal practitioner, they are often hurt, confused, and unsure where to turn. The LPFF is here to restore hope, dignity, and ensure that no one walks that journey alone,’ Mr Molefe said.

    During the campaign, representatives from the LPFF, LPC and LPIIF took time to educate members of the communities in clear, simple and practical terms. Using local languages, they explained how the claims process works, including –

    • how to identify misconduct;
    • what evidence to gather; and
    • how the Fund assesses claims.

    The LPFF pointed out that the impact of these Imbizos has been evident, as more communities now know how to report suspected misconduct, more individuals understand that dishonesty by a legal practitioner is not the end of the road, and more South Africans feel empowered through accessible legal knowledge. The LPC plans to continue the nationwide Imbizos in 2026, with the aim of reaching some of the most underserved areas.
