Travel industry entrepreneur Naveen Kunduhas acquired a majority stake in Dubai-based destination management company VOYAGE 1 and brought the business together with Tourism Futures.AI, his destination marketing platform.
Following the transaction, Kundu will take charge as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the integrated business. He will work alongside the existing founding team as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion.
VOYAGE 1 was founded by Vishal Dhansinghani and co-founded by Lavin Dhansinghani and Amit Kumar. The company operates through wholly owned destination businesses serving leisure and corporate travel markets.
Its current network covers the UAE, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Vietnam, Japan, <a href="https://absafricatv.com/sun-pharma-secures-south-africa-approval-for-generic-semaglutide-injection/" title="Sun Pharma secures <a href="https://absafricatv.com/amazon-will-launch-its-satellite-internet-in-south-africa-seemingly-beating-musk-in-his-homeland/" title="Amazon will launch its satellite internet in South Africa, seemingly beating Musk in his homeland”>South Africa approval for generic semaglutide injection”>South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda. The combined organisation now plans to extend that network into Switzerland, the Nordic countries, Thailand and the Americas.
Destination operations meet technology-led marketing
The integration brings together two different parts of the travel value chain.
VOYAGE 1 contributes destination-level operations, local market knowledge and an established network of businesses across multiple countries. Tourism Futures.AI adds destination marketing capabilities and a technology platform focused on customer acquisition.
The combined business intends to support travel agents with personalised recommendations, customer acquisition tools, improved operational processes and a broader range of commercial opportunities.
The strategy is aimed at creating a connected destination management network that uses data and automation while retaining local execution capabilities in individual markets.
Commenting on the transaction, Kundu said the traditional destination management model was ready for a major change.
“By integrating the exceptional operational network built by Lavin, Amit, and Vishal with the intelligent automation of Tourism Futures.AI, we are creating the world’s first truly smart DMC network,” he said.
Kundu added that VOYAGE 1 would use data-led intelligence to anticipate demand, help business-to-business distribution partners expand customer acquisition and deliver travel experiences across multiple continents.
Founding team to remain involved
The new ownership structure retains the involvement of VOYAGE 1’s founders, allowing the business to combine continuity at the operational level with Kundu’s leadership of the wider group.
The transaction also places Tourism Futures.AI alongside an existing destination management network rather than operating only as a standalone marketing platform.
Kundu has more than 35 years of experience across travel, tourism, hospitality, corporate travel, destination management and the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector.
The financial terms of the majority-stake acquisition have not been disclosed.
