Travellers heading to Mozambique from certain visa-exempt countries now face an important new requirement: advance trip registration.

Effective immediately, visitors must complete an online application via Mozambique’s official Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system at least 48 hours before departure. This rule applies even to those who previously didn’t require a visa for short stays.

Failure to comply could result in denied boarding or entry into the country, according to a recent notice shared by Tourism Update.

    Who needs to register?

Citizens of the following countries must now complete ETA registration before travelling:

    Ghana

    Ivory Coast

    Senegal

    Asia

    China

    Indonesia

    Israel

    Japan

    Saudi Arabia

    Singapore

    South Korea

    United Arab Emirates

    Europe

    Belgium

    Denmark

    Finland

    France

    Germany

    Ireland

    Italy

    Netherlands

    Norway

    Portugal

    Russia

    Spain

    Sweden

    Switzerland

    Ukraine

    United Kingdom

What about South African passport holders?

South African travellers remain visa-exempt for short visits of up to 30 days for tourism, business, or other purposes. At this stage, they are not required to register via the ETA platform.

For the most seamless travel experience, visitors are encouraged to check Mozambique’s official travel site before departure for updates and to complete the required forms if applicable.
