    Team SA waves goodbye to The 2025 World Games with three silver medals and high spirits. All 22 competing South African athletes across ten sporting codes gave their all to represent their country the best they could and should be proud of their performances and the impression that they left on the global stage.  

    Here is a breakdown of how our representatives fared in competition:  

    ARCHERY 

    Hendre Verhoef reached the Last 16 of Men’s Compound

    Septimus Cilliers reached the Last 32 of Men’s Compound

    Jeanine Van Kradenburg reached the Last 32 of Women’s Compound 

    BILLIARDS 

    Jason Theron won the SILVER medal in the Mixed Heyball Pool event

    Marina Jacobs finished 9th in the Mixed Heyball Pool event

    CANOEING  

    Hamish Lovemore won the SILVER medal in the Men’s K1 Short Distance (3.4km) 

    Hamish Lovemore won the SILVER medal in the Men’s K1 Long Distance (21km), clocking 1:35:39 

    Saskia Hockly was eliminated in the heats of the Women’s K1 Short Distance (3.4km), finishing 10th and placed 17th overall. 

    Saskia Hockly finished 9th in the Women’s K1 Long Distance (21km), timing 1:54:18 

    KICKBOXING  

    Ahmad Mahomed lost in the quarter-finals of the men’s point fighting -74kg competition

    Mia Muhammad lost in the quarter-finals of the men’s point fighting -74kg competition

    Matthew Gething lost in the quarter-finals of the men’s point fighting -84kg competition

    Leanne Van der Mescht lost in the quarter-finals of the women’s point fighting -60kg competition

    Saentone Louw lost in the quarter-finals of the men’s point fighting -70kg competition

    MUAYTHAI  

    Damian Collins reached the semi-finals of the -86kg division and then lost in the bronze medal match

    ORIENTEERING  

    Sarah Wimberley finished 29th in the Women’s Middle Distance final

    Sarah Wimberley finished 36th in the Women’s Sprint final

    POWERLIFTING

    Harold Pietersen finished 8th in the Men’s Equipped Heavyweight final. 

    Megan Faul finished 7th in the Women’s Super Heavyweight final. Setting two new South African records and an African record

    SPORT CLIMBING

    Joshua Bruyns placed 24th in qualification and didn’t progress to the quarter-finals

    John-David Muller placed 30th in qualification and didn’t progress to the quarter-finals

    Aniya Holder and Tegwen Oates didn’t progress to the quarter-finals

    Bruyns and Muller lost in the men’s speed relay round of 16 to the Chinese pair who set the world record in the qualification round

    Holder and Oates lost in the women’s speed relay round of 16 to the eventual silver medallists from China

    SQUASH  

    Dewald van Niekerk reached the Last 16 of the men’s singles where he lost. He was then moved into the Special Plate competition which he won to be placed ninth overall

    Hayley Ward reached the Last 16 of the women’s singles where she lost. She was then moved into the Special Plate competition where she reached the semi-finals
