South African Hockey Association (SAHA) is pleased to announce the Spar South Africa Women’s Indoor Hockey team selected to compete at the 2025 Nkosi Cup, which will take place in Cape Town from 12 to 16 December 2025.
The tournament features a world-class line-up including New Zealand, Australia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the hosts South Africa, ensuring another high-quality instalment of one of the sport’s premier international events.
The team will be guided for the first time by incoming Head Coach Calvin Price, who steps into the role after helping lead Namibia to a top-six finish at the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Croatia. His appointment brings fresh energy and proven international experience as South Africa aims to secure its first Nkosi Cup title, having finished with silver medals in the last two editions.
The squad includes two new caps, with 16-year-old Chelsey Woolf receiving her maiden senior call-up and joining fellow debutant Ashleigh Thomas in the national team for the first time. Their selection signals the goal of building a deeper squad.
A significant portion of South Africa’s recent World Cup squad returns for this year’s Nkosi Cup. Sarah Paget, Edith Molikoe, Laiken Brisset, Daniella de Oliveira, Jamie Southgate, Jess Lardant and Malikah Hamza all featured prominently in Croatia and will again form the backbone of the side. Their experience and leadership will be key.
There is further depth added through the recalls of Tatum Kroutz, Cerian Fourie and Charlize Swanepoel, all of whom bring valuable versatility and competition into the group. With a balanced blend of youth, international pedigree and renewed ambition, the Spar South Africa Women’s Indoor Hockey team is well placed to challenge for top honours.
