It is with deep sadness that the South African Sports Confederation, Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SASCOC) mourns the passing of Moekie Grobbelaar – a trailblazer, a champion for inclusion, and a devoted servant of South African sport.
Moekie was not only a proud former Paralympic athlete who represented our nation with distinction, but also a tireless advocate for athletes with disabilities. Her leadership as the former President and Vice President, at her time of passing, of the South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) and her valued contributions as a SASCOC Board Member reflected her lifelong commitment to advancing sport as a vehicle for empowerment and transformation.
Her legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched, the opportunities she created, and the inspiration she offered to generations of athletes and administrators alike. South African sport has lost a true pioneer, but her impact will continue to echo through the corridors of our movement.
On behalf of SASCOC, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Grobbelaar family, her friends, and the broader sporting community. May you find strength in knowing the difference she made and the love and respect she earned throughout her journey.
May her soul rest in peace.
