On 14 July 2026, Sassari held events to celebrate the first anniversary of the serial inscription “Funerary Traditions in Prehistoric Sardinia: the Domus de Janas” on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The occasion reaffirmed local and regional commitments to converting the recognition into tangible benefits for the area.

- Funding: an initial allocation of €15 million, with an additional budget adjustment exceeding €18.5 million, totaling over €34 million.
- Operational goals: heritage protection, improved accessibility, site safety, content digitization and training for site management and visitor services.
- Institutional cooperation: engagement of the Region, Ministry of Culture, superintendencies, the municipalities involved, universities and research centers.
Promotion and visiting
Actions include international promotion and participation in foreign events to raise the profile of the domus de janas and Sardinia’s ancient history. As the site is serial and spread across several municipalities, visit programs and cultural initiatives are being regularly updated.
