There was a commendable display of talent and tenacity from South Africa’s women swimmers at the Belarus Swimming Cup, an international swimming competition open to all top swimmers that took place at the 25m Belarus Aquatics Center in Minsk, from 20 to 23 November, 2025.
Scarlett le Roux smashed her PB to earn bronze medal in the Women’s 400m freestyle, in a new best personal time of 4:18.33.
Jessica Thompson improved on her semi-final finish to touch in fourth place in the 50m butterfly final; showing her speed as she closed with a time of 26 seconds to just miss out o a podium.
Le Roux also took part in the Women’s 200m individual medley final, where she ended in sixth place with a time of 2:21:3. Thompson, regrettably, was disqualified in the Women’s100m freestyle after a false start.
