    In celebration of World Basketball Day, Seed Academy Ghana will host the Kumasi Leadership Summit + Basketball Skills Camp on December 20 – 21, 2025, at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The two-day, off-court summit and on-court skills development session will bring together 100 young women athletes ages 13 to 18 who are active basketball players, underscoring Seed Academy Ghana’s commitment to using basketball as a platform for leadership, confidence, and opportunity.

    World Basketball Day provides a global moment to recognize the power of the game beyond competition. Seed Academy Ghana is marking the occasion by investing in the holistic development of young women athletes, creating a space that is practical, empowering, and community-rooted. The summit will focus on leadership, personal growth, and life skills that extend beyond the court.

    Through keynote conversations, interactive panels, and small-group workshops, participants will explore career pathways in and beyond sport, while building confidence and identity and deepening their understanding of mental wellness, body literacy, nutrition, and athlete-centered self-care.  The summit will also feature panelists and mentors from sports, business, health, and creative industries, offering real-world insights, guidance, and inspiration.

    “World Basketball Day is a reminder that the game has the power to shape lives far beyond the court,” said Pops Mensah-Bonsu, retired NBA player, former Olympian and Founder of Seed Academy Ghana. “Through this summit, we are celebrating basketball by investing in young women athletes and giving them the tools, confidence, and support to lead in sport, in their communities, and in their futures.”

    About SEED Academy Ghana supports and enhances the development of basketball, coaching and infrastructure of the sport in Ghana and West Africa, as well as provides mentorship and coaching of future basketball talents from the region. The organization was founded Pops Mensah-Bonsu, only the second NBA player of Ghanaian descent to play in the NBA.
