According to Zibi, the lack of clear direction has weakened confidence in the democratic process, leaving South Africans feeling disillusioned and impatient.

The Government of National Unity (GNU), Zibi argues, has a narrow window to act. “The GNU has only five years to rescue the country or watch South Africans increasingly gravitate towards dictatorship and strongmen,” he cautioned.
Without urgent reforms and stronger governance, South Africa could face the erosion of its hard-won democracy.
