Cape Town International Airport has been crowned as the Best Airport in Africa at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

It was also named the Cleanest Airport in Africa. Moreover, it was recognized for having the Best Airport Staff on the continent.

As reported by The South African, the awards took place in Madrid on the 9th of April.

As reported by Business Tech, Cape Town International Airport was not the only airport to fly the South African flag high.

Durban’s King Shaka International Airport was also recognized as the Best Regional Airport in Africa.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are prestigious accolades for the airport industry.

Skytrax conducts the world’s largest annual airport customer satisfaction study in 575 airports in 100 countries.

In the survey, passengers were afforded the opportunity to evaluate their experiences across more than 575 airports globally between August 2024 and February 2025.

The survey assessed key performance indicators across the entire passenger journey – from check-in, arrivals and transfers to shopping, security and gate departure.

Welcoming the recognition, Mpumi Mpofu, CEO of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), expressed that their goal is to provide a seamless, safe and enjoyable travel experience for all who pass through their airports.

‘These recognitions affirm that we are on the right path and inspire us to continue raising the bar’.

ACSA further noted that South Africa also scored another recognition in the awards, with the Intercontinental Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport in Joburg named the Best Airport Hotel in Africa.
