Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and the University of the Western Cape FC were the weekend’s standout winners while Richmond United and a surprisingly flat University of Johannesburg emerged as the biggest casualties in Week 13 of the Hollywoodbets Super League, on Saturday, 17 May 2025.

Defending champions Sundowns flexed their attacking power with a dominant 6-nil victory over Richmond United at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Boitumelo Rabale and Melinda Kgadiete both netted braces, while youngster Katleho Malebana marked her return from loan at the University of Pretoria with her first goal for Banyana Ba Style. Kgadiete also got off the mark for the season.

Reflecting on the win, Malebana credited the team’s training-ground efforts:

“I think we’ve been struggling to score goals, so today we really tried to apply everything we’ve been working on. From finishing chances to set-piece execution and combinations, we made it count. It wasn’t easy — breaking their lines took effort — but we managed the game well.”

With 10 matches played, Sundowns remain unbeaten with 9 wins and 1 draw, sitting firmly atop the log with 28 points. They next face TUT Matsatsantsa FC in a Tshwane Derby on Sunday, 25 May.

Coach Thinasonke Mbuli’s UWC dealt a humbling 5-nil home defeat to the University of Johannesburg, at the UJ Stadium in Soweto.
Leandra Smeda put third-placed TS Galaxy Queens 1-nil to the good in their Saturday tie at home against UCT.

TUT come into that clash on the back of a 3-1 away win over Ezemvelo FC, where Mamokgaase Senyatsi bagged a brace, and Khutso Mogano sealed the victory.

In Soweto, UJ endured a humbling 5-0 home defeat to UWC at the UJ Stadium. Despite a slow start to the season, Thinasonke Mbuli’s UWC side, last season’s runners-ups, will hope this emphatic performance sparks momentum for the rest of their campaign. UJ now sit 10th on the table, and face a tough away test against Copperbelt Ladies next weekend.

The Rockets coach Sizwe Sibiya says it was a tough encounter: “We were playing against, one would say, a wounded animal. So they just came from a five-nil thrashing by TUT.

“Today, even their approach, even their mentality was just basically saying, don’t concede more. But so far, look, I’m happy with the showing of the girls.”

Royal AM, featuring a youthful side, climbed above Durban Ladies to 15th spot after holding them to a goalless draw in the KZN derby.

JVW FC and the University of Pretoria (AmaTuks) shared the points in a 1-1 draw. AmaTuks will host fellow students UJ in their next fixture.
