Cape Town’s food calendar is about to gain a major new highlight. The globally renowned Taste Festival will make its local debut in November 2026, bringing its immersive, multi-sensory food experience to the Mother City for the first time.

Having drawn crowds in cities like London, Paris and Dubai, the festival’s arrival in Cape Town cements the city’s growing reputation as one of the world’s leading culinary destinations. With limited daily capacity planned, organisers say demand is expected to be high from the outset, as reported by Weekend Special.

    Why Cape Town was chosen

The decision to host the Taste Festival in Cape Town follows the city’s recent recognition as a World’s Leading Culinary City Destination and positions the event as an annual celebration of South Africa’s evolving food culture.

Organisers describe Taste of Cape Town as more than a food festival. It’s intended to become a recurring cultural moment that reflects the diversity, creativity and global relevance of local cuisine.

What to expect at Taste of Cape Town

Visitors can expect a curated mix of flavours, sounds and experiences across the festival grounds. Highlights will include:

    • Signature dishes from some of Cape Town’s top restaurants
    • Live cooking demonstrations with acclaimed local and international chefs
    • Masterclasses hosted by sommeliers and food experts
    • Multiple live music stages creating a festival-style atmosphere
    • An artisan market showcasing specialist producers

A dedicated African Flavours Pavilion will spotlight culinary traditions from across the continent, positioning the festival as a gateway to African gastronomy rather than a purely local showcase.

A premium experience for food lovers

For those looking to elevate their visit, the Connoisseur’s Taste Pass will offer access to a private lounge, complimentary premium wine pairings and an exclusive masterclass with a headline chef.

According to festival organisers, the aim is to create layered experiences that appeal to casual visitors and serious food enthusiasts alike.

    A festival designed for families

Unlike many large-scale food events, Taste of Cape Town is being curated as a multi-generational experience. A dedicated Junior Chef Zone will offer hands-on cooking workshops, interactive food activities and child-friendly tastings, allowing younger visitors to be part of the experience while parents explore the main festival areas.

Open communal spaces will encourage families and groups to relax, sample dishes and enjoy live performances throughout the day.

    When tickets go on sale

Taste of Cape Town will take place in November 2026, with early bird ticket sales expected to launch in February 2026. Promotional campaigns will roll out closer to the date, with limited-capacity sessions expected to sell quickly.
