The South African tennis team is currently competing at the African Youth Games, in Angola, the largest sporting event for youth on the continent.

This prestigious multi-sport event brings together thousands of young athletes from 54 African nations, competing across 20 sporting disciplines, with tennis proudly included.

Team South Africa is represented by Hlumani Kekana (Cape Town) and Lonwabo Makeje (East London), under the guidance of team manager Mpho Makhoba.

In the boys’ singles, Hlumani Kekana, seeded third, has received a first-round bye and will face the winner between Lezley Jemusse (Mozambique) and Moise Kinase (DR Congo).

In the girls’ singles, Lonwabo Makeje, also seeded third, has a first-round bye and will take on Favor Ghana (Liberia) for a place in the quarterfinals.

Wishing our young stars all the best as they represent South Africa 🇿🇦
