Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Migeul Timm has penned an emotional tribute to the Buccaneers following his departure.

The 33-year-old spent three years at Mayfair, winning five trophies under former coach Jose Riveiro. Injuries and stiff competition saw Timm fall down the pecking order last season. He was eventually released in June, having featured more than 50 times for the Soweto giants.

Timm, took to X (Twitter) to thank the Pirates management and supporters for welcoming him to the club.

“I’m writing this with a smile reflecting on my past three years with the club,” he wrote.

“Thank you to the chairman for allowing me to carry the burdens and hopes of millions of the Orlando Pirates family.

“Thank you to everyone I have crossed paths with during that time, creating unforgettable memories and relationships with the technical team and my teammates that I still share a special bond with today.

“I have fulfilled my duties and what I was brought to the club to do, which was to contribute to bringing back silverware on a regular basis and seeing the happy people like never before,” Timm added.

Miguel Timm was instrumental for Pirates in the first two seasons

“I tried to understand everyone and everything that is part of this big institution and embody what being a Buccaneer is, as best as I could from the day I arrived to my very last day at the club.

“A special mention to the best supporters. Thank you for allowing me to represent millions of you over the years, you will always have a special place in my heart.”

Was Timm given a fair chance?
