Energy exporters around Europe and Africa would meet in Scotland in September 2026 to review the future of the sector.
The exclusive four-day programme built around the ‘Energy Exports Conference’ will connect senior West African energy professionals with Scotland’s oil, gas, and renewables sector through curated meetings, roundtables and site visits — open to delegates from across the African continent.
The Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA) has thus announced plans to coordinate a senior West African energy delegation to Aberdeen this September, responding to growing interest from energy professionals across the continent who are seeking structured access to Scotland’s world-class energy expertise.
The initiative was said to target Nigeria but later attracted other African countries. The statement said strong and unsolicited interest from energy professionals across multiple African countries has broadened the delegation’s scope to reflect the wider appetite for Scotland-Africa energy partnerships.
The programme is now open to senior decision-makers from across the West African continent.
The four-day programme would run from September 1 to 4, 2026, anchored around the ‘Energy Exports Conference’ on 2nd and 3rd September. “It extends well beyond conference attendance, providing structured, high-value access to Scottish energy expertise across oil and gas, renewables, and energy transition technologies.
“Delegates will participate in pre-arranged private meetings with Scottish energy firms, closed-door roundtables with senior industry leaders, site visits to key facilities including Aberdeen Harbour, and a private VIP dinner”, according to a statement made available to BusinessDay by organisers.
Every interaction is said to be curated in advance, ensuring that each delegate’s priorities are matched with the right Scottish counterparts. “Too often, international visits rely on chance encounters and missed opportunities. This delegation removes that uncertainty. Every meeting is prequalified, every introduction is purposeful and every moment is designed to deliver value and results”, said Frazer Lang, CEO, Scottish Africa Business Association
Africa’s energy sector is said to be at an inflection point. Across the continent, governments and private sector operators are said to be working simultaneously to maximise the value of existing hydrocarbon re-carbon systems
“The expertise required to navigate that transition at scale exists in Scotland. Scotland has built a global reputation across the full energy lifecycle — from complex deepwater oil and gas operations, subsea engineering and asset integrity management, to offshore wind, hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage.
“These capabilities are directly relevant to African energy markets seeking to strengthen output from mature fields, develop new low-carbon capacity and build local technical expertise. For Scottish energy firms, the African continent represents one of the most significant growth opportunities in global energy,” officials said.
“This delegation creates a structured, bilateral platform for both sides to explore partnerships, joint ventures, local content development and investment pathways.”
Giving programme highlights, SABA mentioned two full days at the ‘Energy Exports Conference’, including dedicated networking with UK and international energy firms. There would also be pre-arranged one-to-one meetings with targeted Scottish suppliers, buyers and project developers.
The schedule also showed a site visit to Aberdeen Harbour and leading energy training and transition facilities; roundtables on oil and gas optimisation, well intervention, energy transition and investment models; roundtable on renewables and future energy systems, including offshore wind, solar, hydrogen and grid flexibility; private VIP dinner with senior Scottish and West African industry leaders; and full logistical support, personalised itineraries and marketing visibility across SABA channels.
The delegation is being delivered in partnership with George Okoroma, a business design and innovation leader based in Aberdeenshire with deep networks across African professional engineering and energy institutions.
George is said to work closely with FIDIC Africa, the regional body of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers representing the consulting engineering industry across Africa. He is said to led the team responsible for the successful product launch of the FIDIC Africa e-Magazine at their 2026 annual infrastructure conference held in Ghana.
SABA officials said the delegation is being kept deliberately small to ensure a genuinely curated experience for each participant. “Senior African energy professionals interested in joining are encouraged to make contact at the earliest opportunity. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure the right seniority and sectoral mix.
