Top seed Jessica Schilz lived up to her billing, winning the U18 girls finals at the Trio Tennis South Africa Junior Masters on Sunday, 28 September in Cape Town.
In the U18 girls division, number seven seed Meri Sandenbergh punched above her weight, beating fellow Western Province player Schilz in the round-robin stage of the tournament before defeating number two seed Milla Kotze in the penultimate round.
In the final, however, tournament favourite Schilz hit back to secure a 6-2; 6-0 victory to claim the title.
Lisa-Marie du Toit beat Kotze 6-3; 6-2 to win the third-place playoff, while Alicia Taylor secured a straight-sets win over Jenna Theron, taking the U16 girls title 6-4; 6-0.
Megan van Vuuren got the better of Winnie Masemola in the U14 girls final 6-2; 6-2, and Emma van Rooyen was victorious in the U12 girls final, with her 6-4; 6-3 victory over Miane Swart.
