You thought three host countries was too much? Pah, try six! That’s right, a total of six nations will stage matches at the 2030 World Cup. Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the principal co-hosts, but the three opening matches will take place in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to mark the tournament’s centenary.

The 2030 World Cup is currently scheduled to take place from Saturday, 8th JunetoSunday, 21st July. That’s more than six weeks of football!
How many teams will take part in the next World Cup?
FIFA are still deciding on how many teams will compete in the 2030 World Cup. A total of 48 nations qualified for the 2026 edition and Gianni Infantino has suggested the number could increase to 64.
Which teams have qualified for the next World Cup?
FIFA don’t know how many nations will take part in the 2030 World Cup, but six have already qualified. Unsurprisingly, all the co-hosts are guaranteed a spot.
