William Paul Woody’s life balanced a commitment to his family, dedication to his business clientele, a legacy of hard work and success, and a quiet generosity that touched the lives of those who knew him. He was a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, and an entrepreneur who built from scratch a successful accounting and tax consulting firm, Woody and Associates. W. Paul Woody was 83 when he died, July 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He lived in Edmond and had offices on NW 63rd in Oklahoma City.
Born June 8, 1943 to William (Bill) and Helen Woody, he grew up in San Angelo, TX, attended local schools, had a paper route for six years, and worked part-time at the San Angelo Standard Times where his father was an executive; his mother was an educator. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a degree in business administration. He was a member and president of his fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi. While at OU, he was in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the active Army upon graduation. He proudly served his country for three years and was a commander of an ordnance company in Fort Hood, Tex. Following an honorable discharge, he worked for General Electric in Schenectady, New York for five years.
On August 8, 1972, Paul started his business as a franchisee of General Business Services. In 1989, Paul earned Enrolled Agent status, which enabled him to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service. He returned to college to earn a master’s degree in the science of accountancy in 1993 at age 50. He also earned a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) degree at 58, two years after his son, W. Grant Woody, earned his CPA. (He sold his business to his son, Grant, in 2012.) Moreover, at age 63, he became a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). This enabled him to analyze and appraise dental <a href="https://absafricatv.com/council-of-europe-chief-questions-fifa-practices-at-2026-world-cup/” title=”Council of Europe chief questions FIFA practices at 2026 World Cup”>practices as many of his dentists moved into retirement. Paul often lectured and presented programs to other CPAs and dental professionals about client services and ethics. He called himself an “aggressive” CPA in working towards the benefit of his clients. Today, Woody & Associates provides accounting and tax law insights to more than 300 dentists, with a tax clientele of more than 1,200 returns annually. Paul was devoted to his clients; in turn, his clients trusted him completely.
Paul met Linda Curry on New Year’s Eve, 1998. Paul proposed marriage during a trip to Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii. Together, they traveled the world — expeditions, ocean cruises with friends and family, even an African safari. Their extensive travel enabled them to appreciate God’s gifts. Paul lived well, loved even better and enriched the lives of those who came to know him. Linda has frequently said, “Paul has made me a better person.”
Among the those who were blessed to share Paul’s life and survive him include his wife, Linda; his three children, William Grant Woody and Carrie; Robert Lee Woody and Stephenie; Allison Michelle Woody Currie and Taylor; his bonus children are Carla Romine and James; Kevin Curry and Julie; Michael Curry and Tara, and Todd Curry. Grandchildren include Zack Woody, Kayli Woody, Nate Woody, Jacob Woody, Bella Woody, Laynee Woody, Drake Woody; and, Caroline Currie, Davis Currie; and Collin Romine, Casey Copeland and Nick; Tia Godfrey and Spencer, Cody Curry, Reagan Curry, Hannah Curry, Mackenzie Curry, Preston Curry, and Noah Curry; great-grandchildren are Parker Copeland, Avery Copeland and Beckett Godfrey; his brother, Stephen Woody and Susan; nephew William Woody and Jeana; niece, Ryann Woody and Ole; and his fur baby, Asher. Paul will also be remembered by all his clients who were friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Ally Woody; and two grandchildren, Austin Romine and Gunner Curry.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes or the Oklahoma Humane Society.
