Willie le Roux insists his international career is not yet over.

The veteran fullback, speaking at an SA Rugby sponsorship event in Joburg on Thursday, admitted he still feels the pull of the national setup.

“You do miss being in the team all the time, especially when you play with them and celebrate the good wins,” he said as quoted by News24.

Le Roux earned his 100th cap against Italy in Gqeberha in July, before featuring in the 24-17 loss to the All Blacks at their Eden Park fortress in Auckland two months later – the Boks’ last defeat of 2025.

PREVIEW: Boks bid to end season on high

Le Roux says he’s focused on his commitments to the Vodacom Bulls who face the Lions in Saturday’s URC derby at Loftus Versfeld.

“For me, currently it’s about playing in the URC for the Bulls and doing my best there. You never know what can happen in the future. I just need to stay healthy and fit, because we don’t know what lies ahead.”

However, at age 36, and with Damian Willemse and Aphelele Fassi consistently delivering stand-out performances at fullback, it is hard to see how Le Roux gets back into the Springbok set-up.

Even Le Roux admits: “The No 15 jersey is in very good hands.”
