A San Antonio attorney received a 20-year prison sentence last week after pleading guilty of stealing more than $500,000 from six kids whose parents died in a murder-suicide five years ago.

Texas Judge Kirsten Cohoon in Kendall County’s 451st Criminal District Court sentenced Karen Kay Hogan, a 69-year-old wills and trust attorney, on June 1, according to a June 5 press release from the Kendall County district attorney’s office.
It follows the plea by Hogan, who was charged with misapplication by a fiduciary of $300,000 or more, a first-degree felony, and exploitation of a disabled person, a third-degree felony, according to the story, adding that the oldest child has a developmental disability.
The punishment is running concurrently for both charges.
The children of Jason Marcus Evans and Emily Elizabeth Fulton Evans, five daughters and a son, were inside the home at the time of the shooting that was ruled a murder-suicide in 2021, and the kids then ranged in age from 4 to 15 years old, according to KSAT.
