The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been a novel event in many ways. It was the first tournament held in three countries, and it featured a record-high 48 nations. During Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain, fans will also witness the first-ever World Cup halftime show.

The championship match and the halftime show are only part of Sunday’s festivities, though. Sunday’s slate will also include a monumental halftime show, scheduled to take place roughly 90 minutes before the final.

Here’s a look at when to catch Sunday’s action and who is scheduled to take the stage.

The pre-match celebration will be fun and filled with celebrity appearances. Just a few days ago, FIFA announced that pop musician Post Malone has been picked to headline the pre-match ceremony.

“At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.

Singer Robbie Williams, famed Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger, and singer-songwriter Laura Pausini are also slated to perform during the closing ceremony.

Pausini has said that she will perform with Williams and Scherzinger on “Desire.”

“After performing it together for the first time in New York last year, we’ll be back on that stage, this time joined by Nicole Scherzinger, for another unforgettable moment celebrating the power of music, football, and the emotions that bring people together,” Pausini posted on X.

According to the Associated Press, streamer IShowSpeed is listed as a performer, while Hollywood star Tom Cruise is set for a “special appearance.”

Given Cruise’s penchant for performing stunts, fans can probably expect some sort of physical exhibition to be part of the performance.

Jennifer Hudson is slated to sing the U.S. national anthem ahead of the final. Fans eager to see blockbuster musical performances will want to stay tuned in during the match, as the halftime show is scheduled to feature the likes of Shakira, Madonna, BTS, and Justin Bieber.

The halftime show has been curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay. It will also feature characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets as part of a program that FIFA has called a mix of “football, music and social impact”
