Lonely Planet has released its Best in Travel 2027 list—a selection of places worth visiting next year. The list includes 50 destinations in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica.

What is Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2027?
Best in Travel 2027 is an annual selection by Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel publisher.
The list features 50 destinations across various continents: from the mountain ranges of the Veneto region in Italy and the volcanic coast of Montserrat to Australia’s Red Center and the salt flats of Gujarat. The publisher traditionally releases this list in the fall and offers recommendations on where to travel the following year.The new selection features cities, historic regions, islands, national parks, and travel routes. This allows travelers to choose a destination suited to different types of vacations.The ranking was compiled by the publisher’s authors based on their own experiences. They personally visited each location, evaluated it on-site, and included in the list only those destinations they would recommend to other travelers.

Where to Go in Europe in 2027: 10 Destinations
The European portion of the ranking includes 10 locations across nine countries. Italy has two entries, while the remaining countries each have one:
In addition to cities and coastal destinations, the European list includes two routes: the Route de Napoléon in France and the St. Cuthbert’s Way in the United Kingdom.

Where to go in the Americas in 2027, according to Lonely Planet?
In North America, the publisher recommends Prince Edward Island in Canada, the state of New Mexico in the U.S., and the Guadalupe Valley in Mexico. From Central America, the city of Granada in Nicaragua made the list.
Argentina represents South America in the ranking with the city of Bariloche and the Lake District. The authors of the selection also highlighted the coast of Montserrat with its volcanic landscapes.

The Best Destinations in Asia and Australia in 2027
In Asia, Lonely Planet recommends visiting Darjeeling and the salt flats of Gujarat in India, the city of Da Nang in Vietnam, and the Tohoku region in Japan.
Australia is represented in the ranking by the Red Center—one of the destinations the authors highlighted among the 50 recommendations of the year.

Africa and Antarctica in the Lonely Planet 2027 Ranking
Among the African destinations included in the selection are the Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks in Kenya, as well as the Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania. The Antarctic Peninsula received a separate entry in the ranking.
