Kaizer Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi scooped silverware for the club, but he could leave the club. What can the board do to make him stay?

Nabi’s fate could depend on an MTN8 place

According to iDiski Times via Sunday Times, the Amakhosi board are waiting for the end of the season to decide on manager Nabi’s future.

However, after the Nedbank Cup win, Chiefs will wait for the results of their final two league games against Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City before meeting with the technical team for crunch talks after the season.

“Actually, I’m very focused on the last two games of the league, and it’s very important for the end of the league,” Nabi said on Extra-Time when asked about his future.

“I still have a contract with Kaizer Chiefs, and I believe that if the club wants to continue with me, and to give me the tools to succeed, there is no reason to leave – even if I could find somewhere else to go.

“But I respect this club, and I want to continue with this club.”

Nabi wants backing in the transfer window

The Tunisian tactician wants to stay at Naturena. However, he’ll only maintain that stance if management gives him money to spend in the winter window.

“But I wouldn’t be honest if I said that I will stay if the club doesn’t allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season,” he added.

“Because they have promised [quality reinforcements] and I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that is going to compete in every competition to win trophies.

“That’s the condition for me to stay because I don’t feel I want to go through what I went through this season.”

Kaizer Chiefs target Nigerian midfield maestro

Kingsley Michael is still only 25, but the Nigerian midfield orchestrator has already been around the block. His club career has seen him enjoy stints across Europe. First in Italy with Bologna, Perugia, Cremonese and Reggina. Then, spells with SV Ried and DSV Leoben in Austria followed. Now, he’s on the books of Monastir in Tunisia. Surprisingly, he’s only earned one cap for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
