As South Africa commemorates Youth Day 2025, gsport reflects on a powerful engagement at the Embrace Symposium hosted by St Benedict’s College, where gsport Founder Kass Naidoo shared how a simple idea grew into a national movement for women in sport.

Speaking to educators and student leaders, Naidoo delivered a compelling keynote titled: ‘Start Small. Think Big. Change the Game’ – a personal reflection that resonated deeply with the audience.

Naidoo encouraged schools to become incubators of inclusive spaces through sport, and to nurture leadership from the ground up.

“Educators play such a vital role. They lead our children and help shape the future.”

“I felt deeply privileged to share the gsport story with them, and to encourage them to start something new, right where they are,” she said. “Together, we can change the game in every environment we touch.”

The visit coincided with gsport’s celebration of the 20th edition of the gsport Awards, and marked the introduction of a fresh, action-driven campaign: #IRecogniseHer, a national call to consciously celebrate and amplify women in sport by publicly acknowledging their efforts, excellence, and impact.

The gsport Newsroom also uncovered exciting new stories during the school visit, shedding light on underrepresented sporting codes and the need to elevate more voices across all levels of sport.

“gsport was born from the belief that women in sport deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated,” added Naidoo. “It’s proof that one idea, fuelled by purpose, can shift the game.”

“We left the Embrace Symposium energised by the potential of learners who are ready to lead, and educators who are ready to play their part,” said Naidoo.

The public is encouraged to participate in this year’s milestone celebration by visiting www.gsport.co.za and nominating women who are making waves in sport – in line with the powerful message:
