    Team SA went into Sunday’s final day of action at the World University Games in Germany with a total of 17 medals. Rowers Courtney Westley and Catherine Williams moved that total to 18 with a silver in the women’s pair before the men’s 4x100m also added a silver as Team SA ended on 19 medals. That left them seventh on the medals table.

    ATHLETICS

    SILVER! Men’s 4x100m relay, final: Team SA (Kyle Zinn, Retshidisitswe Mlenga, Mthi Mthimkulu and Bayanda Walaza) clocked a season’s best 38.80 to take silver behind Korea

    Men’s pole vault, final: Hendrik van Wyk was unable to record a measure

    Women’s 4x400m relay, final: Team SA (NP Molepo, Angelique Strydom, Annestaysha George and Marlie Viljoen) finished 4th in a season’s best 3:34.48

    ROWING

    Men’s Pair B final: Phumelele Tshabalala and Jordan Craig won their race in 7:15.89

    Men’s double sculls, C final: Stefan Breytenbach and Ryan Dellbridge placed 6th in the final in 7:12.78

    SILVER! Women’s pair, A final: Courtney Westley and Catherine Williams placed 2nd in 7:43.97 behind gold medallists Lithuania

    UNIVERSITY GAMES TEAM SA’S MEDALS (19)

    GOLD (6): Pieter Coetze (swimming, 50m. 100m backstroke), Bayanda Walaza (athletics, 100m, 200m), Lythe Pillay (athletics, 400m), Aiden Smith (athletics, shot put)

    SILVER (5): Pieter Coetze (swimming, 100m freestyle), Lara van Niekerk (swimming, 50m breaststroke), Team SA athletics (mixed 4x400m), Team SA athletics (men’s 4x100m). Rowing (women’s pair, Courtney Westley and Catherine Williams)

    BRONZE (8): Team SA swimming (mixed 4x100m medley, mixed 4x100m freestyle), Olivia Nel (swimming, 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle), Colette Uys (athletics, shot put), Gabriella Marais (athletics, 100m), Mondray Barnard (athletics, 110m hurdles), Jana van Schalkwyk (athletics, javelin)
