While it may already feel like summer across the UAE, the season officially begins today, Saturday June 21, 2026.
The start of summer is marked by the summer solstice, an annual astronomical event that signals the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
On this day, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted most directly towards the sun, meaning the sun reaches its highest point in the sky at noon and daylight hours are at their longest.
What does this mean for the UAE?
For residents across the UAE, it means the official arrival of a season known for higher temperatures, humidity and plenty of indoor activities.
Of course, summer weather has already started making itself known. Temperatures have been steadily climbing since late April, with many areas across the country already experiencing highs above 40°C.
