Durban will host the 4th International Longevity Summit in September 2025, spotlighting Africa’s rising role in wellness and medical tourism.

It will take place from 10-11 September at the luxurious Sibaya Hotel & Casino located in the popular northern resort town of uMhlanga, as reported by Travel and Tour World.

The summit, organised by South African Tourism and the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority, will welcome 300 international delegates. Among these delegates are policymakers, researchers clinicians and investors. The decision to hold it in Durban is a sign of South Africa’s potential to be a top player in medical and wellness tourism.

    Why Durban?

With the theme of this year’s event being “Future-Proofing Health: Africa’s Role in the Global Longevity Revolution”, the aim of the summit is to advance preventative and regenerative health and explore their contribution to longevity. Durban’s combination of top class infrastructure and natural beauty highlights its potential to offer a combination of medical and leisure tourism experiences.

How does this benefit South Africa beyond tourism?

By the event being held in the country, South Africa automatically benefits from the global awareness of its status as a wellness destination. It has the potential to increase investment towards medical tourism and wellness services leading to:

    • Job creation in medical, hospitality, and tourism industries

    • Healthcare infrastructure improvements and adoption of cutting-edge technology

    • Reinforcement of South Africa’s status as a health innovation leader

With this summit, the country has an opportunity to strengthen its appeal as longevity tourism destination.
