Team SA’s swimmers picked up on Saturday where they’d left off on Friday night at the African Youth Games when they continued their domination in the pool, writes Mark Lemke in Luanda.
Swimming had contributed 10 medals to the overnight Team SA total of 28, but quickly delivered the medals that took Team SA’s total to 40, which surpasses the 33 medals they won at the previous Games in Algiers in 2018. The swimming team picked up another 12 on Saturday, taking that code’s haul to 22.
Saturday’s Games action was all brought forward to accommodate athletes going to the opening ceremony later in the day.
