More than 2,700 young Kenyans have completed a government-supported digital skills program designed to prepare them for job opportunities and entrepreneurship in Kenya’s rapidly expanding creative and digital economy.

The five-day training session, which took place at the Jitume Digital Media Factory in Nairobi, provided participants with hands-on experience in various skills, including photography, videography, graphic design, video editing, and social media management. The program also introduced participants to the application of artificial intelligence tools, freelancing, and digital entrepreneurship.

The training was organized by the Technopolis Development Authority in collaboration with the Kenya Film Commission, Postal Corporation of Kenya, and Genesis Design Factory. According to the organizers, the large number of participants reflects the increasing demand among young people for digital skills that can help them earn a living in the creative industry.

Officials stated that the initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to address youth unemployment by increasing access to digital training and creating pathways to employment, self-employment, and innovation, as Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow.
