Designed as a collaborative and knowledge-sharing framework, this strategic MoU aimed to support the Ministry in creating a seamless and enriching travel ecosystem that drives both economic benefits and social impact across Indian destinations, said a Google communique
This initiative marked the Ministry’s first comprehensive partnership with a global technology company, bringing together its mandate to shape India’s tourism future with Google’s expertise in integrated technology, actionable data insights, and creating new engagement channels, it said
Preeti Lobana, Country Manager, Google India, said, “India is one of the most searched travel destinations globally, yet much of its diversity remains to be fully discovered digitally”. “This collaboration is our commitment to closing that gap.’’
According to the Google, the collaboration is structured around three pillars: Collaborative Insights into Travel Trends (Google will provide comprehensive dashboards designed to assess critical global travel demand, emerging patterns and travel behaviour), Seamless Visual Discovery (stronger digital discovery and navigation experiences through Google Maps and content on YouTube) and Building Digital Tourism Muscle (Google will offer hands-on training sessions for practitioners and officers at the Ministry of Tourism to equip them, with essential skills required to effectively manage, optimise, and monitor digital campaign)
The collaboration will be governed by a joint review structure to ensure the timely delivery of its core milestones
