The inaugural Power Africa Today conference,  taking place at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, in Cape Town on October 12- 16, will convene a strong lineup of senior policymakers, regulators, researchers and industry leaders at The new platform will examine the policy, financing and infrastructure needed to expand electricity access modernize transmission networks and accelerate investment across Africa’s power sector.

Reflecting the global nature of Africa’s power transition, representatives from the African Union, Brazil’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) and S&P Global Energy join the event as speakers. Their participation underscores growing collaboration between governments, regulators and market intelligence providers as countries work to strengthen electricity systems, modernize regulatory frameworks and expand investment across the power value chain.

Among the confirmed speakers is Letaro D. The conference will also feature Carlos Roberto de Carvalho de Fonesca, Head of the Unit of International Affairs at Brazil’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The ministry oversees Brazil’s international engagement on climate policy, environmental governance and sustainable development, with the country expanding cooperation with developing economies on clean energy and climate initiatives.

Joining the lineup is Edington T. Mzambani, CEO, ZERA, which has remained active throughout 2026 with regulatory reforms and digital modernization initiatives. Recent milestones include the launch of the ZERA AI Bot, consumer fuel price adjustments and continues efforts to strengthen Zimbabwe’s independent power producer framework and energy regulatory environment.

By bringing together distinguished voices from across the global energy landscape, AEW 2026 is creating the platform for the conversations and partnerships that will help shape Africa’s power future,” says NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber.

As the newest platform within AEW 2026, Power Africa Today arrives as investment in Africa’s electricity sector gathers pace. By convening senior representatives from multilateral institutions, governments, regulators and global market intelligence organizations, the conference reinforces AEW’s role as a meeting place for the stakeholders driving the next phase of power sector development across Africa.
