A new streaming platform, NolliStream, has launched in Nigeria, offering users free access to Nollywood and other African movies, television programmes and offline viewing.

Speaking on the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of NolliStream, Dr. Olu Oluwa Tofehinti, said the platform was developed to reflect the viewing realities of Nigerians, particularly the challenges of expensive data and inconsistent internet connectivity.

The platform, which is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, provides users with access to a wide selection of Nigerian and African films, including drama, comedy, thrillers and television titles, without requiring a paid subscription.

According to the company, the offline download feature was introduced to address the realities of internet access in Nigeria, where high data costs and unstable network connectivity often affect how audiences consume digital content.

“Offline access matters here. Many people don’t have consistent data, and we built this with that in mind.

We wanted an app that works with how Nigerians actually watch, not against it,” Tofehinti said.

Unlike many streaming services operating in the country that rely on subscription payments, NolliStream adopts a free-access model aimed at viewers who do not currently subscribe to existing platforms. The company said it also plans to continually expand its catalogue of films and television content.

The application also comes with parental control features to enable families manage age-appropriate viewing. In addition, the company said its data management practices comply with the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

NolliStream said the application is available for immediate download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The company said the platform is targeted at audiences in Nigeria and the diaspora, providing free access to Nollywood and African movies, alongside television content across multiple genres, including drama, comedy and thrillers.
