Breaking Financial Barriers to Cancer Care in Nigeria – COST-FIN Study

    COST-FIN Study shared on LinkedIn:

“Financial navigation is more than helping patients find reation, problem-solving, and trust-building, often during one of the most difficult moments in a patient’s life

Through the COST-FIN Study, our financial navigators work closely with patients and families in Nigeria to identify financial barriers to cancer care, develop individualized financial plans, and connect patients with available support so they can continue treatment.

We are deeply grateful to expert financial navigation coaches Clara Lambert and Dan Sherman for the incredible support they have provided to our financial navigators over the last two years.

Through monthly pro bono coaching sessions, practical guidance, and endless emotional support, Clara and Dan have helped shape the heart of COSTFIN’s financial navigation model. This work would not be possible without them.

Clara, a former TailorMed financial navigation coach, is a national leader in oncology financial navigation and financial advocacy, with experience spanning patient navigation, insurance verification, financial counseling, revenue cycle work, and leadership through Association of Cancer Care Centers, AONN+, and other national initiatives.

Dan Sherman, Founder and President of The NaVectis Group, has more than 18 years of experience helping cancer programs implement financial navigation services. His work at Lacks Cancer Center has been recognized as a best-practice model in oncology financial navigation.

Their mentorship has helped our navigators think through complex patient needs, sustain difficult work, build confidence, and strengthen financial navigation as a patient-centered model of care.

Thank you, Clara and Dan, for helping us build this work with care, humility, and purpose!”

Juliet Lumati, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, USA, shared onLinkedin by COST-FIN Study, adding:

“My two favorite humans! With over 50 years of experience in financial navigation combined! What DanSherman,Clara Lambert have done to help us support and peer coach the first financial navigators in Nigeria is immeasurable!

I have learned so much and grown through their leadership and dedication to every cancer, every patient, everywhere.”
