At Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, music and artistic performances along the Hoan Kiem pedestrian area attracted large crowds of residents and visitors. More than 1,000 people joined the parade, including international art troupes as well as Vietnamese artists, artisans, models and community members.
The “Colours of Five Continents” artistic programme was among the activities of the second World Culture Festival in Ha Noi, held from October 1 to 4 under the theme “Heritage Convergence – Shaping the Future”.
Vietnamese ao dai appeared alongside traditional costumes from other countries, creating a colourful cultural encounter in the pedestrian area. Folk dances, traditional melodies, contemporary music and street performances were presented to the public in succession.
The festival brought together art troupes and cultural organisations from 18 countries. Interspersed among the performances were works showcasing the distinctive cultural heritage of Thang Long-Ha Noi, including folk dances, circus arts and other traditional performances.
Vietnamese ao dai, traditional costumes and fashion collections inspired by Vietnamese culture were also among the highlights of the programme.
Through encounters expressed in music, costumes and the arts, the festival provided another platform for Ha Noi to showcase its cultural values while welcoming cultural diversity from around the world.
The significance of “Colours of Five Continents” lies not only in the richness of its arts and costumes, but, more importantly, in creating a space where cultures can meet, interact, share and respect one another.
