FuTopia will return to Zanzibar for its second edition on 8–9 August at Fumba Town, offering a vibrant celebration of music, art, food, wellness, sustainability and community.
Organised by Busara Promotions, the team behind the internationally acclaimed Sauti za Busara festival, FuTopia was launched in 2025 to showcase Africa’s creativity through an immersive cultural experience that extends beyond live music. Following a successful debut, this year’s festival is expected to attract music lovers, families, creatives, travellers and culture enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.
Unlike a conventional music festival, FuTopia blends daytime community activities with evening concerts. During the day, visitors can browse the Kwetu Kwenu Community Market, discover local artisans and designers, sample cuisine at Food Art Street, participate in wellness sessions at the Afya Zone, enjoy traditional games at the Asili Games, and explore the Wonder Zone for children and youth. The programme also includes creative workshops, art installations, sustainability initiatives and interactive experiences across the festival grounds.
As night falls, the festival will come alive with performances spanning Afro House, Gqom, Singeli, Afro Pop, traditional African rhythms and live band music. The line-up features South African Gqom pioneer DJ Lag, alongside Tanzanian artists including DJ Joozey, DJ Zoro, Midimu Collective, Baba Kash & The Band, Brainboy & Tarazouk Band, GlobalLocal, Princekim, Rody Joh, Ngoma World, Sauti Marley, Zainooba, Hammer Q and Ruth Mlawa. International performers include Vania Ice (Burundi), La Negra Mexa y las Cumbiancheras (Mexico), Sidi Blue Moon (Canada) and Playroots (Chile).
A defining feature of FuTopia is its accessibility. Daytime activities, including markets, exhibitions, family programmes, wellness spaces and community events, are free to the public, while tickets are required only for the evening concerts.

Set in the eco-conscious waterfront community of Fumba Town, the festival also supports Zanzibar’s growing cultural tourism sector by encouraging visitors to experience the island beyond its beaches. Organisers say FuTopia aims to foster collaboration, support local businesses and create opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs, innovators and communities to connect.
With accommodation available across Zanzibar, visitors travelling from outside the island are encouraged to book early ahead of the festival weekend. Additional artists and programme announcements are expected in the lead-up to the event.
